About Elisabett

Elis Gudmann is a Northern California artist focused on process-based abstraction, creating works infused with color, texture and form.  Her body of work is expansive and varied and reflects her interest in exploring materials and techniques.  From large, etched metal panels to carving, bronze casting, and multimedia sculpture, the materials contribute to the narrative of her work.

Her interest in time and the way it transforms and affects natural and man-made elements, often evoking references to the natural world, influences her creative vision.  The use of disparate mediums such as metals, charred wood, concrete, and alchemy enter the realm of metaphor, giving us images that speak to themes of loss and impermanence, fear and uncertainty, journey and transformation.

A San Francisco native, Gudmann is a first generation American and received her BS from CSUS.  Her works have been exhibited widely and are included in many prominent public and private collections around the world.

She recently completed large-scale, site specific architectural installations in Paris, Seoul, Hong Kong, London, New York, and Los Angeles, among others.Additionally, she owns a contemporary art gallery, curating and managing exhibitions throughout the United States..
